The CD multichanger in my Series 1 BMW has developed a fault. Any ideas how I can fix it?
I have a multi CD changer in my Series 1 BMW, which firstly wouldn't read any of the CD's and now refuses to release the cartridge from the player. This has developed over a few days. I'm reluctant to go to BMW as I imagine they will want to replace the whole unit.

What can happen is that pirate CDs sometimes gum up multichangers because the coding on their rims is wrong. Have a look at the (probably separate) manual for the CD. Sometimes they have a pinprick hole in them through which inserting an unwound paperclip mechanically releases the mechanism.
