What do you think of the Mazda Bongo?

My daughter needs a car to ferry her four young children to school and to travel to see us in the school holidays. I have been offered a 2.5-litre Mazda Bongo B2500 diesel automatic for £2995. It has 92,000 mileage. I know very little about cars and friends have no knowledge of this type either. I would appreciate your thoughts on this please.

Bongos are popular 1990s van-based MPVs. They're all at least 13 years old and were imported from Japan at the end of their economic life there. They gobble fuel at less than 25mpg. More about them here: honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/mazda/bongo-1994/
