Are rusty brake discs causing a recurring ABS fault on my Peugeot 407 SW?
When my 2005 Peugeot 407 SW was 12 months old the ABS/ESP showed to be faulty and was rectified under warranty. Shortly after another sensor was faulty and replaced, followed within six months by a third. The Peugeot dealer replaced that and gave a three-year extended warranty. Last year the ABS/ESP warning light appeared and I eventually had it repaired because the MoT was imminent; now it has happened again. Is this a Peugeot problem? My garage advises that the area around the brake calipers is rusty, due to low annual mileage. Does this affect the sensors? Is there an alternative remedy?

Pleased I read to the end. The answer is yes. Rear brake discs rust heavily if the car is not used regularly and is not heavily braked. Rusted reluctor rings will affect the operation of the ABS sensors.
