Should my 2003 Ford Mondeo be averaging just 26-28mpg?
I have just bought a 2003 Mondeo 1.8 LX. Nice car, but what should the mpg be? It is averaging 26-28mpg and I can't get it above 30mpg even on a motorway run.

The 1.8 litre engine in the Mondeo has a combined fuel consumption figure of 37mpg. That figure relates to when the car was new and conducted in laboratory conditions. Around 30mpg should be achievable though. Have you made sure that you're working out the mpg correctly? You can find out more about how to do this here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/fuel-consumption
