Please warn your readers about scammers calling about insurance renewal.
I’ve just been the victim of an attempted scam. I received a phone call from a woman stating she was checking my automatic insurance renewal. She gave me lots of correct details about myself, my wife and the policy. She then asked me to confirm the card number that the direct debit is taken from. Luckily I declined to do this, and instead phoned the relevant company. They confirmed that it was indeed a scam. I know we’ve all been warned about this before, but do not give your bank or credit card details out to someone who phones you. Contact the company concerned yourself. They will never ask for payment details over the phone unless you request it.

It's frightening how many people will be taken in by this. Thank you for the warning.
