Dealer misfueled a diesel car - do I accept it back?

I collected my new VW Scirocco (2.0 TDI GT DSG - 170bhp- 2010 plate) from a dealer on Friday. We had a 100 mile journey back home and the car seemed to perform very well. After parking the car outside our house for approx 1 hour I went out and the car would not start. Following checks it has been confirmed that the dealer I purchased the car from has topped the tank up with £20 of unleaded petrol in error. The car is now with the dealer to clean the system out. I have been assured by the VW dealer that this will have had no detrimental effect on the car. Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

If the car would not start then the £20 of petrol definitely did have a detrimental effect, so you want your full purchase price refunded. Do not accept the car back. You can sometimes get away with up to 9 litres of petrol added to a 60 litre diesel tank because the petrol 'floats' on top of the diesel and all you have to do is prevent it getting picked up by the pump which takes the fuel from the lowest point in the tank. But if the salesman put £20 of petrol into a near empty tank instead of diesel and that got picked up by the fuel feed then the petrol will have destroyed the injection pump and injectors and there is potentially £4,000 - £5,000 worth of damage.
