Appealing a fine for failing to tax a scrapped car?
In January 2012 my car was scrapped but I did not have the log book to inform the DVLA and forgot to tell them - I have now received a letter from a collection agency last week demanding £80 for failing to tax the car - the date of the offence was April 2012 - do I have grounds to appeal the fine and how do I go about informing DVLA that I do not have the log book or the car - I can give them the name of the garage that scrapped the car on my behalf.

You are technically at fault. You have to ask the DVLA how you extricate yourself.
