What repair can I expect from the dealer?

Our 06 SEAT Alhambra had faults when we bought it in May 2011 (it had not been fully checked) and has had constant faults since.

It is now out of warranty and has a faulty head gasket. It has taken the garage four attempts and eight weeks to diagnose the fault. We want to replace the car but cannot afford to as it is now worth £6000 less than we paid for it. We bought the car from a main dealer on the advice of the salesman who had used the car himself and have had it regularly serviced - and repaired - by the same main dealer.

The initial mileage was 47,000 and is now 88,000. I have spoken to Consumer Advice and have a meeting at the beginning of next week with the Manager. What can I reasonably expect of them?

Not much. Over the period May 2011 to February 2013 you have driven 41,000 miles. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
