Best wheels and tyres for a Focus?

I want to buy a Ford Focus Titanium X from Ford Direct. My local Ford dealer tells me that they all have 18" wheels. I have driven one with 17" wheels which are OK. Please tell me what 18" wheels will do to the ride and road noise?

Make both ride and road noise a lot worse, wear a lot faster, be much more expensive to replace. Focus are best on sports suspension and 165/65 R15 wheels and tyres (Econetic spec).
