How do get out of locked a BMW if you can't smash a window?

How do you get out of a locked BMW if you have been locked in by the driver with the key as he walks away?

This is a safety issue as there is no way out if you have no means a breaking a window and its a hot day.

Dogs die in hot cars so will people!

The driver has to realise that he can't do that. He has to leave the key in the car. It's his responsibility.
