I don't want to write-off my old car...
My car was struck by another on Sunday and suffered a large scrape down the passenger side. If I claim off the other party's insurance, they will presumably want to write-off my car, because the repair will cost much more than the value of the car.
Apart from the scrape, the car runs fine. If I make a claim, can I keep the car? Do I have to tell my insurer about this incident? Can I claim from the other insurer directly if I do decide to make a claim?

Declare to your insurer but tell them you do not want to claim and do not want the car written off.
