Buying a new Ford Ranger Pick-up in Thailand. Can you help?
From regular reviews of your website, you obviously know a lot about car ownership in Thailand.
I am from UK and I will be spending more time in Thailand.
I want to buy in a cash deal a new Ford Ranger Double Cab Truck [DBL 2.2L 4x4 XLT M/T]
I have approached two Thai Ford Dealers and both quote List Prices. Am I likely to get a discount in the price and/or benefits like free insurance, or accessories at discounted prices?
Insurance: I have had an acceptable quote from Viriyah Insurance, but is 1 million Baht per person adequate cover for Loss of Life?
Does the new 2.2 Diesel Turbo engine have a Timing Chain or Timing Belt?
All advice and guidance will be appreciated.

Normally you can get about 20,000 - 40,000 baht off, plus a clutch of accessories like floor mats, gearshift lever lock, window deflectors, etc. but all of this depends on the state of the market and what sort of monopoly the dealers have. The Ranger is good, but the new D-Max is considered by many to be better. That's what my sister in law's husband went for. The Ford 2.2 and 3.2 are chain cam, as is the Isuzu 2.5 and 3.0. The Ranger XL in bright red with black alloys really looks the business. Don't go for 4WD unless you really need it. But do go for a limited slip rear diff.
Dear Honest John,
