Unusually rapid brake wear on a Suzuki SX4
I drive the Suzuki SX4 top of range 2-litre diesel. Bought from new, it is almost exactly 12 months old and has done 15,000 miles. I drive a 65 mile round trip commuting to work each day; the car does not go off-road.
Today's visit to the dealer following unusual noises from the driver's side front brake revealed the outside pad of the O/S front brake worn metal to metal, all other pads low and the discs worn close to limit. Replacing all these parts has cost £214. No fault was found with the operation of the calipers.
Previously I drove a Ford Focus and then a Hyundai i30 for 4/5 years each on the same commute and their front brake pads lasted at least twice as long and the discs didn't wear.
Do you think the rate of wear I have just experienced is exceptional, are the Suzuki brakes of poor quality materials and would it be reasonable to ask Suzuki for a goodwill payment?

This is unusual, but just "one of those things". At least the dealer minimised the cost of the replacement.

My Corsa has just failed its MOT because of a 'strong imbalance' between the L and R rear brakes. Apparently this could either be a distribution valve, or possibly the Master Cylinder.
