Transferring a number plate from an old wreck

New rules come into effect in Nov 2012 ref pre 1960 car MOTs. My wife has a 1954 A30 which belonged to her late mother, but it has not been on the road for many years and has no MOT - and it would cost quite a lot to achieve this. Under the new rules will she be able to transfer the A30 number to her Astra?

That I can't tell you. I think the A30 would have to be roadworthy. But you may have put your finger on a means of transferring nice registrations from total wrecks.
