Fuel economy
I have recently signed up to a 4year lease deal on a Fiat 500 Twin-air (2012 )
and have had the car for 3 weeks. I understand that the car has only completed 400 miles but the fuel consummation is appalling.
Main dealer figures are always misleading on new cars and I understand that you need to take off at least 10 to 15% for fuel economy as the car is tested ‘on the bench’ in real terms.
My vehicle is recording between 30-37 mpg at this present time, and I have contacted the main dealer for the car to be collected and looked at. On Fiat’s own web site there seems to be a lot of concerned and angry customers also complaining about fuel figures on the Twin-Air.
Would it be possible for you to investigate the issue and see if there is a problem with the Twin-Air model.

Job done 18 months ago. Then in May 2011 we awarded the TwinAir the title of 'Britain's most brilliant rule bender'. What FIAT has done is created a car that passes the EC fuel economy and emissions tests with flying colours, and qualifies for free annual tax and Congestion Charge exemption. Yet it's so much fun to drive that many drivers only get mid 30s fuel economy. I got 48 on a long run really trying. The average in the real life fuel economy register is 48.7mpg v/s the 48.8 of a 1.2. (www.honestjohn.co.uk/RealMpg/Results?manufacturer=...t)
My personal average over 17,000 miles in my own 500 1.2 is 48.45.
