Is a diesel suitable for me?
I'm an estate agent who drives 5 miles to get to work and 5 miles back, together with numerous local appointments throughout the day with engine on/engine off and 30 to 60 minute intervals inbetween. We also travel to parents/inlaws once a month (about 100 mile round trip. My question is: could this damage the DPF or potentially malfunction or block it with these patterns of driving?

Yes. The last thing you need for this sort of work is a diesel. Get a small turbo petrol.
