Remap or get rid?

I have been disappointed with the pull away performance of my Polo 1.6 TDI since day one and have stalled it more times than any other car in 45 years of driving.

The throttle doesn't respond for the first 6mm and sometimes the engine just dies quietly as I try to pull away at low speed.

It will be out of warranty at the end of this year and our local and reliable VW specialist has suggested a remap by "Custom-code". Is this a wise move or should I just get rid of the car?
