Vauxhall Vectra stalling at low revs

I own a Vauxhall Vectra C 1.9 diesel. It has a manual gearbox and a DMF. The problem I have is when the clutch is not engaged. The car runs smoothly and then stalls, with a clicking noise. This happens after starting or when stopped at lights. When I engage the clutch - the engine runs smoothly.

Just to clarify I have no other issues with the clutch. Good bite and no slip when accelerating hard. If I change the idle rpm from 800 to 1000 the stalling doesn't occur.

DMFs don't like being engaged at engine idle speed. They like a few revs more, even if it's just 1000rpm. Was a massive problem in London about 15 years ago when London cabbies found out the hard way.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
