Battery problems

Have had some problems with my battery draining recently on my 54 plate 2.0 TDCI Mondeo. Following recommendation from the Green Flag man to replace the battery as it is the original battery, I ordered a new one online by simply entering the registration plate of my car. It arrived today and after fitting it i noticed that the RC and Ah numbers do not match on the original and new batteries. On the old (original battery) its 125 RC and 70Ah and on the new battery RC 135 and Ah75.

Do these numbers need to match up?

Well the RC is a battery industry rating, which defines a battery's ability to power a vehicle with a inoperative alternator or fan belt. The rating is the number of minutes a battery at 80 degrees F can be discharged at 25 Amps and maintain a voltage of 10.5V for a 12v battery. Therefore the higher the rating the longer your car can keep going should the alternator/fan belt fail.
Therefore one would not worry about the rating you have described.
Again for the Amper Hour figure is the measure of electrical power that the battery can deliver. For your car the slight variance of 5Ah is nothing to worry about, what you should not do is purchase one that is substantially lower ie 45Ah as this would have problems cranking your engine over to start. Note Diesel engine cars need bigger Ah battery's that petrol cars.
