Mondeo broken down

Two days ago my 2005 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Ghia X broke down. The battery light came on while driving for a few seconds and also the ABS light for a bit. I thought nothing of it then later that evening whilst driving back to where we were staying the dash board lights dimmed the wipers became very slow and the rev counter, speedo etc stopped working?
