Trading in a six year old car

My Skoda Fabia Ambiente estate is now nearly 6 years old and due for a service. I am very happy with it and it still runs well but fear it may start to become expensive. Would now be a good time to replace it and as funds are tight should I look for a 1 year old model instead of new. Luggage space is important for 2 sets of golf equipment. Apart from 1 return trip to the Dordogne each year most journeys are short.
