Key damaged
The key for my a three month old Mazda 2 Tamura was stuck in the fob so I took it to Mazda where the salesman tried to prise it out of the slot it but couldn't, so I then went to the servicing dept. The technician freed the key and I was told it had been slightly bent so it had been straightened. I wanted a replacement key under my car warranty but was told that the key was not covered and that they had saved me over £100 for a new key, by fixing it. Put simply, I don't trust the key now as I had not handled it harshly (I'm a female in my fifties). When I complained to the Mazda Sales manager he was very patronising and refused to even contemplate that the key might be faulty and insinuated that it was my fault as the damaged had happened while the key was in my possession. I'm now afraid to drive my car with that key in case it happens again and I get locked out of the car. Meantime, I'm using the spare key. What do you advise as I would like to take my compaint further.

No case for Mazda to answer because this is previously unheard of so you have somehow managed to damage the key by not inserting it fully. Some keys are 'waisted' in that they are cut narrow at a point. If they are then not fully inserted they twist at the waist and I'm guessing that is your problem. You could probably get a third key cut and programmed at a branch of Timpsons. If not, someone under keys and locksmiths in this directory: www.honestjohn.co.uk/useful-websites/specialists/
