Avoiding a DPF - what do I need to buy?

What year were DPF filters introduced and what age Mondeo or Passat cars do not have them fitted?

From around 2001. Mk III Mondeos up to 2007 never had them. Mk IV Mondeos always had them to meet EU4 from January 2008. Passats had them from about the same time. Hondas didn't. No Honda 2.2iCDTI has a DPF; only 2.2iDTECs have them.
