Alping hand
My son (who lives in Switzerland) recently purchased a Jaguar XF 3.0 diesel, having read all the glowing reports about it. Twice now he has had a potentially disastrous problem on his 20 mile runs to work.
Without warning the car has shut off acceleration power with a dashboard message "restricted performance". This happens precisely when power is most needed. It seems that this is not an isolated case. If so, surely there should be an urgent recall before a serious, if not fatal, incident occurs. He is already wondering whether it was a mistake to part with his trouble-free Audi.

Probably, with low Swiss speed limits and high enforcement, he's not getting to the engine revs that will regenerate the DPF. It may help to use the paddles to lock it in a lower gear so it's running at 2,000rpm rather than 1,000rpm.
