Did you know that there are speed cameras that will cause a Garmin satnav to stop working?

On three occasions over the last year I have used the M1 between Junctions 15A and 32. On each occasion my Garmin satnav has stopped functioning in the vicinity of Nottingham and did not resume until it was restarted. I contacted Garmin and their reply states, in part, that, "there are a set of safety cameras in the area you mentioned, that work in a completely different way from any other safety camera in the UK. This causes your unit to shut down/freeze when in a proximity of the cameras".

This may be of help to your readers. If it is an attempt to increase "safety" camera revenue by depriving motorists of warnings from their onboard - and legal - equipment it is most reprehensible.

Many thanks for the warning. I didn't know that, most readers will not have known it, and the charlies who installed the speed camera system either don't know or don't care.
