Is the RAC preparing to launch its own accident management service?

I think your readers should be made aware of a survey currently being circulated by the RAC via email. As with most online surveys, the questions are very carefully worded. The survey starts off by asking if the participant has considered taking out accident recovery cover with a breakdown recovery service provider, but within a few questions the survey is asking questions about matters that are usually the preserve of insurers. The RAC appears to be joining the despicable practice of accident management. As soon as I realised this, I went and changed some of my earlier responses before proceeding any further. It may be just a survey, but it would be foolish to give the RAC the answers they want to hear. Apart from the emergency services, perhaps, surely you should always contact your insurer first in the event of an accident?

You are right. But one by one every car manufacturer is launching its own Accident Management Service. These don't drop you into the claws of credit hire operators, and rather are intended to make sure that repairs are carried out properly at manufacturer backed repairer rather than multi vehicle repairers. So soon there will be no need for any aftermarket accident management specialists and this unpleasant money-grubbing rip off should be eliminated.
