What is life like with your car? Let us know and win £500 in John Lewis vouchers | No thanks

Thanks to The Ecclesiastical Insurance Co.Ltd for excellent customer service.

Earlier this year my wife and I were on holiday in East Yorkshire. On our return home we found a letter from an insurance claimer stating that our car had hit another car in Liverpool on a day when we were in Yorkshire. What annoyed me was an implication that I should deal only with them and not inform anyone else of the claim. My response was immediately to telephone my insurer who asked me a few questions and then told me to take no action myself as they would deal with it all. A week later I received two letters, one from Liverpool to tell me that the lady who made the claim had withdrawn it, the other from my insurer to say that I had not lost anything from my no-claim bonus and that the matter was now closed.

All my insurances are placed with the same company. Two years ago the sewage pipe from my house that runs under the drive became blocked. Not long previously I had had my drive repaired and inspection showed that the builder had carelessly allowed some rubble to fall into the inspection pit that was the cause of the blockage. Again I phoned my company to enquire if their house cover included my present problem. Their polite answer was "Certainly Sir, would you like us to deal with it for you?"

The next morning there was an inspector on the premises and four days later the sewer had been cleared, even though it was quite a tricky job - at no extra cost to me. Who is this angel among insurers? It is "The Ecclesiastical Insurance Co.Ltd" now based in Cheltenham. Originally founded to insure only church buildings, it is now open to accept business from everyone and is gaining an excellent reputation amongst insurance agents and private individuals for fair and quick dealing.

Always a pleasure to read of a good insurance company to whom customer service comes first, rather than one that operates from overseas call centres using lowest common denominator systems.
