Our Citroen C4 Grand Picasso EGS jerks when changing gears - should we replace it with a Ford S-Max?

I have read your excellent review on the Citroen Grand Picasso EGS, which I bought new in March 2008. I have returned it to the garage under warranty a number of times due to the clunkiness of the gear changes. One time, they did a software update, but have since said that they find no fault with it. At slow speeds, it feels like it is bunny hopping, and changing gears coming up to roundabouts and then accelerating away makes the car jerk. I feel unsafe overtaking and likewise at junctions and roundabouts. What would you recommend? We are currently looking at replacing it with an S-Max, but would obviously prefer not to due to cost constraints.

The S-Max 2.0TDCI (same engine as the Picasso) with Powershift automatic is fantastic. See test and video: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/ford/ford-s-max-20.../. Also check out the cheaper, smaller new C-Max 2.0TDCI Powershift: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/ford/c-max-2010
