Golf Mk6 DPF problems

I wondered if you were getting any feedback on breakdowns caused by DPF problems for the Golf Mk6? Our two year old average mileage model broke down recently and it needed regeneration and a new DPF sensor. This was done for nothing but we had to get a breakdown vehicle tow in.

I've seen a couple of others on forums - is Volkswagen dealing with a problem as cars break down? Its only recently been serviced by them.

DPFs on relatively new cars tend to fail because of the way the cars have been used. A diesel with a DPF cannot be repeatedly started from cold only to be driven short distances. It needs to do at least 20 motorway miles at 2,000rpm plus for the DPF to even start to regenerate.

Comfortable and quiet on the move, enjoyable to drive. Nicely trimmed with great attention to detail. 1.4 TSI sweeter to drive than a diesel.
