Volkswagen Passat CC engine problems - what's the fault?
I have a seven year old Volkswagen Passat CC. It has covered 140,000 miles and had no issues until now. The last two journeys, of approx 200 miles, the engine has 'missed', only for about 20 seconds each time. The engine also seems a little hotter upon arrival than it used to in previous years. Any idea what the problem could be?

Probably something to do with the DPF regeneration. If the DPF has never been replaced it will be getting full of ash so active regenerations won't work properly. Check the engine oil level because it could be rising, contaminated with diesel injected into the engine for regenerations that failed.
