Practical and enjoyable - what can are the choices?
I currently own a 51-plate Rover 25 1.6 and a 97 plate MGF 1.8vvc.
The MGF was bought as the fun car and I love driving it. Time has come to consider selling both but I hate the thought of losing the drive experience of the MGF.
I've test driven the new Ford Focus Titanium, which gives me the capacity for golf clubs, 2 dogs etc. What add ons, tyre size would be best for what I want if I decided on that one and are there any other suggestions you could make?
I've also test driven Mazda 3 and BMW 116i SE. The budget is around £20,000 and I would be happy with a 'nearly new' option. I'm looking at maybe 10 years before the next change. Many thanks.

If the Focus, go for the 1.6 Ecoboost 160 or 180. Or consider an Astra 1.4T (the Focus is belt cam, the Astra is chain cam). Lukewarm reports of latest 1-Series and engine trouble with the earlier petrol engines. Take a look at the road tests here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/ and the car by car breakdown here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/ The latter gives you the dirt as well as the good bits.
