Vauxhall Zafira - what's the problem?

I have a Vauxhall Zafira 2003, 105000 miles otc.Recently serviced as usual by dealer.Developed a tapping sound, only noticeable on acceleration to 2250 to 2500 revs.

Car runs as usual.

Dealer decided it was cambelt (had been replaced 2 years,(24000miles) previously.

This was replaced, without improvement.I returned to dealer and a cursory glance and listen in the car park by a service manager and mechanic?, said, 'we get a lot of these, it's the flap in the manifold' or something to that effect. 'It's expensive, but leaving it as it is will not do any harm'.

Is this the likely cause?

What should I do, apart from getting another possible unreliable opinion?

If the noise is rattling inlet manifold swirl flaps then it cold be serious if one breaks off and gets ingested into the engine.
