Fitting a new brake caliper to Zafira

I need to fit a new rear brake caliper to my Vauxhall Zafira because the handbrake actuator has stopped working. However, I wish to use the existing half worn pads, what is the correct procedure for extending the piston to take up the wear?

So we assume that you have fitted the new caliper, and that the old pads are to be fitted. Given that you have not disconnected the hydraulic system. If so then you just need to pump the brake pedal a few times and the pads should self adjust. Remember to check the fluid level in the reservoir afterwards
