Can I adjust the brake pedal in my car?

I purchased a low mileage Volvo XC40 in August 2024 but since then I have been diagnosed with degenerative knees and pressure on the brake pedal is now beginning to be felt. Volvo service say it can't be adjusted to a lower pressure it has to comply with their service manual. What vehicle could I consider?

Rather than changing your vehicle, you may wish to consider consulting a vehicle accessibility specialist who may be able to provide an adaption to reduce the brake pressure required or a hand control adaptation that would allow you to keep your current car and drive in comfort with full control.
