Does the government have a plan to expand charging?

Does the government have a plan for EV charging for people that can't have a home charger. Where I live the only charges are over a mile away and limited to 90 minutes. If the permitted charging time was increased access to chargers would decrease and I wouldn't really want to leave my car away from home for long periods of time and walk back and forth to collect it. As a pensioner I find the whole thing quite worrying. I accept that I could buy a petrol car and it would probably last until I give up driving. But I feel there should be another solution.

The majority of governments in Europe are expanding the public charging network on a rapid basis, including ideas such as using existing infrastructure as a means of offering accessible charge points like lamp posts. How and when this will be implemented in your area may depend on the plans of your local authority, but it is worth bearing in mind that public charging is usually considerably more expensive than home charging, so if home charging is not an option you may wish to consider an alternative to a pure electric vehicle. A plug-on hybrid would allow you to charge when convenient and enjoy EV running but not have to solely rely on charge points.
