How does the Renault E-TECH electric mode work?
Am buying a 2023 Captur e tech 145 and it seems just like my 21 Captur Auto except electric.
Renault garage said that it automatically changes from petrol to battery but I understood that it starts up in petrol and then providing the battery is sufficiently full on the gauge you then press the ERV button and it changes to electric which should last for about 30 miles.
Someone else told me that it just changes automatically which is no good. So once it has enough charge will I not be able to start it in electric mode?
I am completely confused as I changed to this for my final car as I will be 90 in 5 years. Please explain simply what I must do to drive electric sometimes. I road tested it at Renault garage and drove lovely but no charge in battery for me to go electric.

Renault's own information explains that the E-TECH hybrid system starts in electric mode and will stay in this mode until the battery is depleted or if additional power is demanded via the accelerator, however it is important to note it will only start in electric mode if there is already sufficient charge in the battery. The system will try and use electric power whenever possible but this will depend on the battery charge level, drive mode if selected and also driving style.
