Do I need new insurance?
I took an insurance policy with eCar for myself and two sons. I was asked to provide copies of driving licences (both parts) for all named drivers. I have provided everything except elder son's photocard, which he has sent for renewal and it has not come back yet.
eCar notified me that the policy would be cancelled today (Sunday 17 July) unless this was received. Meanwhile I have sent them (as they suggested) authorisation to check with DVLA on our behalf. They received this on Friday morning but they have not acknowledged it and have ignored my repeated emails as to whether the policy is now in order.
Their helpline is premium rated and closed at weekends. From what I've read, they have a habit of cancelling policies and charging exorbitant fees. I need to drive tomorrow morning. Should I get a new policy today? And will I be penalised for having been 'refused' insurance - and would this not apply if I left my son off the new policy?

Chaotic mess but the answer would seem to be to exclude your son with the missing licence at first, then add him to the policy later once you have the licence. Phone calls to eCar Monday morning.
