Warranty claim refusal
I have extended warranty on my Jaguar XJ8 and have had it serviced purposly at main dealers at the regular intervals (give or take a couple of thousand miles) as not to endanger the policy. Although I know this was not absolutely necessary I thought a little loyalty would be beneficial. Yet as soon as I make a substantial claim, it is refused on the grounds of wear & tear rather than component faliure. I can understand this to a degree, but nowhere in the policy does it state how many miles or years each component should last.
Have you any experience of this and am I wasting my time challening this opinion?

Whether this is fair or not depends on which component you are talking about. Obviously, wearing components such as brake pads and discs are not covered. But components that fail through wear such as an alternator or the engine itself should be covered otherwise the warranty is completely pointless.
