Passat Estate - Is it worth repairing?
I've had this car for a few years but had a problem recently whereby it would suddenly feel like the brakes had been slammed on for an instant whilst driving.
It was diagnosed as due to faulty wiring which had corroded due to water ingress (I had water coming in through pollen filter some time ago).
A garage spent £700 rewiring it but now say it needs a replacement central ECU at a cost of £1,300. I do not want to throw good money after bad so would I better Ebay-ing it or trying to part ex it with a dealer (with faults explained)?

Common problem on this model Passat due to blocked vent well drains leaving rainwater nowhere to go except into the car (and into the engine via the brake servo). Get it gone.
