Which Car

I need to buy a car for my wife, who will be using it for mainly short trips with our two young children.

I am ruling out diesels due to the DPF issues with short trips, and it'd be a false economy when she only covers around 6-8000 miles a year.

I am considering a Ford Focus 1.8 or Toyota Verso 1.8 and would appreciate your recommendation, or any other vehicles you would recommend that would fit the bill.

Our budget is about £8k.

Looking for reasonable performance and economy with space for a family.

The Verso has 7 seats which may be useful. Also worth looking at the often forgotten KIA Carens.
