New Berlingo rear tyre wear

Our 2009 Berlingo has worn out it's rear tyres in 20K miles - we hoped for and expected (based on many previous front wheel drive cars) around 30 - 40K.

Our dealer tells us that this is a common experience with the new Berlingo and a hunt of the internet appears to back that up.

Our dealer feels that Citroens procedure of doing alignment tests on affected vehicles and possibly 'adjusting' the position of the rear sub frame is very unlikely to improve matters much and is reluctant to go down this road (Our vehicle has had it's alignment checked and been found to be within specifications).

His feeling seems to be that it is a feature of the model for which Citroen haven't got a real solution.

I'd be grateful for your comments and anything you may know about this issue. Are my expectations of tyre life of 30K mile plus realistic of this car?

Probably is a feature of the model. The rear has to carry a lot more weight than the original, much more flimsy Berlingo.
