Help requested identifying whining noise

I have an Audi A4 Avant 2.0 TDI Multitronic (2010 Model), only 4,000 miles, which has an irritating whining noise.

It starts to appear at about 10 mph and continues to maximum speed, most noticeable about 40mph. It has a constant tone, doesn't seem to be road speed related nor engine speed related.

It seems to be a sort of resonance, perhaps with something on the body vibrating in sympathy some mechanical noise - but not really clear. Not much to go on, but any ideas?

Be the CVT transmission. Should not yet need a fluid change, but one might help.
