Can I keep my personal registration if the car is stolen or written-off?

For possible future reference, how can a personal registration be retained if the car is stolen or beyond economic repair after an accident?

You can see the requirements for holding a numberplate on retention on the government website here: www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle-registration-numbe...f. It is not possible to do this if the car has been stolen or written-off, so you should apply to retain the numberplate as soon as possible to avoid this issue should the worst happen.
