How do we change ownership of our car to our daughter?

My daughter is about to sell her car. I am going to give her mine. What is the sequence of change in ownership of mine, taxing it and insuring it in my daughter's name?

The process of transferring ownership is very simple. You can fill in the green section of the V5C and send it off to the DVLA, but the quicker option is to go online here: www.gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicle. Once completed the DVLA will send out a new V5C in your daughter's name.

Once this is done your daughter is the legal owner of the vehicle, and can obtain her own insurance and vehicle tax. VED no longer stays with the vehicle when ownership is transferred, so you will automatically receive any refund due.
