Products such as Redex all generally do the same thing: cleaning carbon deposits from parts of the fuel system, which is no bad thing. However, unless your car has done more than 100,000 miles it is unlikely you'll notice any effect: often a long journey using plenty of revs is enough to burn off carbon deposits. Many of the premium, high octane fuels also claim to clean these deposits off in the same way as Redex.
