Car rental insurance claim - do I have to declare it?

I will be switching insurers when my renewal is due next month and have been reviewing costs on comparison websites.

On holiday abroad this year, the rental company we hired a car from claimed a small dent to a door had been caused during our rental. I know it didn't but the dent wasn't on the collection paperwork, so I had no alternative other than to forfeit my deposit and claim it back through the rental broker's insurance when we got home. They assured me it would not affect my premium. So do I have to declare it when entering my details on comparison sites, please?

Unfortunately as you have made a claim I think you have no choice but to declare it, even though you didn't technically cause the damage. You are meant to declare all non-fault accidents to your insurer or you risk invalidating your insurance.
