What happens if your car is hit while parked but not in a marked bay?
I was parked in a work car park, but not in a marked bay. Someone reversed into my car and damaged the side of it. She initially accepted and we swapped phone numbers and didn't want to involve insurance. But after getting a quote, she’s now claiming I was at fault as I wasn't in a parking bay. I wasn't present when she hit my car, I arrived just after the accident.

In my view it shouldn't matter where you were parked. However, I would report the incident to your insurance company. Even if you don't intend to make a claim they ought to be aware of the incident.
If the repair cost is substantial it would be best getting it resolved through them as it sounds like the third party isn't going to pay.
