Ticking off

I bought an i30ES in June and have now done 3,000miles. Very pleased with the roadholding and the dealer was a pleasure to do business with. The tyres are noisy, but I will keep them until they need replacing and then get a different make. However, both my wife and I have trouble driving off in first gear without stalling the engine and now tend to over rev the engine to avoid this. After using the car for this length of time I would have expected to get used to the car. Is the problem the car or us? Can the Hyundai garage do anything to improve the situation? Would appreciate your advice.

The reason is that the engines in these cars are almost inaudible on
tickover. So you need to practise watching the rev counter, get it to about 2,500rpm (but watch the road as well, of course), then let the clutch out.
