Are Turbo-Chargers in petrol engines anymore reliable than those fitted in diesel engines?

Generally they run faster and hotter in petrol engines. So it all depends on whether they are water-cooled or not. All turbos get some cooling from the engine oil circulating in their bearings, which is cooler than the bearings themselves. But some turbos in petrol engined cars, for example FIATs, Renaults and VAG group cars, have water jackets and are also watercooled.
