I live in London in Battersea and want to buy a car which will last me 5 or six years. Should i be looking for a petrol/hybrid rather than a diesel?
Should I be choosing petrol or diesel for central London bearing in mind the the proposed levy on diesels. My short list is Merc GLE, Lexus RX 450h, landrover discovery, BMW x5/x3 but last three diesel only

Petrol hybrid without a doubt. Though it isn't C Charge exempt, the new RX450h is your best bet among big SUVs. Think of it more as a limo on stilts than as a rugged cross country vehicle. Test here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/lexus/lexus-rx450h.../
